We created a ‘Waze’ for vessel traffic

It’s always great when our clients achieve great results with software and services using ML2Grow’s AI technology and their story got published in the press. This is the case for Brabo and Port+, two of our first customers as a start-up, and both playing an important role in the Port of Antwerp.

ML2Grow’s predictive machine learning models capture uncertainties to predict the necessary time for ships operations in the port. Take for example piloting times, the time needed to pilot incoming and outgoing ships, which depend on characteristics of the ship and the circumstances. Thanks to these models, Brabo’s piloting service window could be improved from 20 minutes up to 8 hours, which makes a huge difference in Europe’s second largest port.

The same types of models also assist Port+ to be the reliable, proactive, neutral business partner for companies serving ships and terminals in the port communities of Belgium and Zeeland, providing the most comprehensive information solutions available. Our AI-based solution enable Port+ to better predict the trajectories that ships follow and the time it takes in changing circumstances.

This accurate information enables all actors involved in the harbor to remove uncertainty, offer guarantees, look further into the future and avoid expensive ripple effects due to unexpected circumstances. You can see their solution as kind of a “Waze for vessel traffic”.

Of course, we are very proud of this realization with enormous economic benefits. Not just for Brabo, Port+ or Port of Antwerp, but for our economy as a whole.

Their story, featuring our contribution, is published in the Flemish newspaper De Tijd. You can read it here in Dutch.
